“If Every Snowflake is Different, Why Can’t You Be?
The 2nd in the series of posters for Mastermind Company.
[Strategy: We planned on distributing 1 poster every quarter, with a reference to the season. The objective was to familiarize the local and regional community with name and logo through the campaign.]
Abel’s Cry CD “Bigger Than”
The design of this CD case was meant to draw interest to the band’s logo and the title. Band members were featured in the gutter peak-a-boo, to draw you into the music. Released on local micro label Bethel Records.
Logo for a National radio network. One of the executive directors suggested we connect the cubes. Which gave the finishing touch to this sophisticated and distinguished design. more
“What Inspires You?”
This was the first in a series of posters I designed for Mastermind Company.
[Print specs:
We were about to run these in a 12X18 size on the offset press, when a rep dropped off a Rico printer that ran 36x12 and told us we could make as many test runs as we wanted.
The printer had a hard time with even coverage and would break up as the paper went through so we redesigned the master with a grungy painted effect to hide the break-up.]
“Be Creative”: Recent proposal for Boise Creative Association logo. (Concept & Color direction by Nathan Barry of Unattended Media.) I wanted something casual and organic, that was distinctive and not pretentious. The fonts, weathering and artifacts speak of human creation, while the banner-like flag is a little unexpected and provides added movement. Perhaps it subtly suggests advertising or signage? There also is a bit of 1950’s-60’s retro call out that fits with the local communities passion and renewed awareness for heritage.
This Americana retro styled holiday sampler done for Bethel Records has particular relevance in it’s design as it was the first Christmas after Nine Eleven. It is one of my favorite projects. A “bumpersticker” (as I know them), also known as “vehicle decals”. The challenge is striking a balance between legibility and aesthetic. Most people don’t want a loud ugly decal on their car. So the unique shape and distinctive muted color create a communication that listeners can be proud of. | Listen to audio branding spot for Freedom Radio
This project was done for our local transit authority, at the very early stages of development. There was really no identity to pull from, other than a logo. So, all the artwork and Flash animation in the presentation and the disc pictured was done on the fly.
As a member of the Northwest Monument Builders Association, I have had the honor to create a variety of tributes using the medium of granite. Pictured here is an unmounted sandblast etched Dakota mahogany piece depicting a nature scene. One of a series of four displays that were created as both artwork and sales samples and were integrated into the redesign of a cemetary sales office. In conjunction with an interior designer. Other monument projects of note are The Stricker Ranch in Rock Creek Park and The Otteson Memorial on Baldy in Sun Valley, Idaho.
